Passing modules is all well and good but the real learning experience comes from actually doing the job. From the beginning of the course Brighton Journalist Works trainees are given a community reporter news patch to cover. In addition, we guarantee our students three weeks working for established titles. It is a fabulous opportunity to impress editors and add to your growing portfolio.
We guarantee three weeks’ work experience for all our students who pass their exams at grade C and above.
Students choose placements from a constantly updated list. Current placements include:
- The Argus
- The Guardian Children’s Books desk

- Women’s Fitness magazine
- Gay Star News
- Mirror Online
- Eastbourne Herald
- Press Gazette

Working for a regional newspaper, a monthly magazine, a busy sub-editing hub, you will gain a unique combination of in-demand skills. Not to mention great contacts for when you graduate.
