“The NCTJ sub-editing course gave me all the skills I wanted, and several I never imagined I'd need -- until they were tested in my first job! The tutors' combination of industry insight and enthusiasm helped me move seamlessly into the editorial and news writing career I wanted.”

Matthew, what is your style of teaching/lecturing?
I give lots of examples, mainly from the inside track on celebrities hoping to keep their stories out of the press, to the background on juicy court cases. Real-life cases will stick in the mind and remind you of the law that was applied in each case.
What is your claim to fame?
A case I brought against the Ministry of Justice ended up being ruled in my favour, following a hearing at the High Court, in London. They were forced to disclose all the papers held on me.
Do you have an industry story you can share?
When I went through the documents, I saw that one civil servant had said to another: "He is annoying, but not vexatious". Now I'm hoping to use - Matthew Davis: "Annoying but not vexatious" on my tombstone.
